Mid-Career Optional Interviews
Overview
Optional virtual interviews are available for mid-career applicants pursuing either the MIPP or MAGP programs in Washington, DC. The admissions interview is a great opportunity to have the admissions committee learn more about your background and how SAIS aligns with your academic interests and career goals.
Interview Format and Structure
Current Johns Hopkins SAIS mid-career graduate students serve as interviewers, offering both evaluative assessment and firsthand program insights.
Duration: Approximately 30 minutes, structured as follows:
- First portion: Discussion of your academic and professional background, plus your specific interest in Johns Hopkins SAIS
- Second portion: Your opportunity to ask questions about the program, student life, and campus experience
Preparation Notes:
- Your interviewer will have reviewed your resume beforehand
- Come prepared to articulate your motivations for pursuing the MAIR program
- This is your chance to demonstrate intellectual curiosity, showcase your interests, and illustrate how you'll contribute to the SAIS community
Scheduling Your Interview
- Format: All interviews are conducted virtually via Zoom (link provided in confirmation email)
- Timing: You may schedule and complete your interview before submitting your full application
- Time Zone: All available times are listed in Eastern Time
- Preparation: Allocate adequate time to prepare so you can effectively showcase your knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for our programs
- Professional Attire: Please dress appropriately for a formal interview setting
